In 1979, David and Eileen Echols founded Echols & Associates. From the moment it was formed, the law firm focused on matrimonial law consisiting of divorce and child custody in Oklahoma City and Edmond areas. Close to three decades later, as many law firms do, we grew to include criminal and business representation in our practice. As a former Special District Judge in Family Law, Eileen Echols has received countless recognitions for her legal expertise and brings to the firm seasoned skills and a vast knowledge of family law both on and off the bench. Similarly, David Echols has also received numerous honors including his selection as a Fellow in the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. He has been well regarded for many years as an Adjunct Professor of undergraduate and graduate family law courses, dovetailing his legal practice with presentations and many published articles, teaching fellow lawyers, a number of which he co-authored with Eileen Echols.
Echols & Associates has over 65 years of combined attorney experience and represents clients in matrimonial law involving child abuse. Remaining a small practice, the firm now consists of the two original attorneys and three associates. The firm offers a blend of seasoned knowledge acquired through years of experience along with a fresh, young perspective associated with strong academic credentials. Our Clients
We provide legal services to clients throughout Oklahoma with a focus on those clients located in Central Oklahoma including Canadian, Cleveland, Oklahoma, Pottawatomie, Grady, Lincoln and Payne counties. In addition, out-of-state clients frequently hire our law firm to represent them in litigation that falls under Oklahoma jurisdiction. Many of our clients are referred to us by professorship contacts, other attorneys or through the Academy. Most of our clients are business owners, executives, professionals and their spouses. As a result, we have fine-tuned our capabilities to resolve sophisticated family law issues often based in financial complexity.
Our Perspective
As a law firm, we understand that businesses require a factual, efficient and expeditious approach that avoids litigation when possible and, when needed, becomes a courtroom tour de force to protect the best interests of the client. On the other hand, because the nature of domestic issues is very personal and often emotional, we handle our clients' family law issues with a finesse and sensitivity geared toward showing our clients compassion and making the legal process as painless as possible. This is not to say that we will not also aggressively defend their rights through strong litigation when appropriate to achieve their objectives.
